My Services

Below are examples of skills that I work on with a child and the family to enable that child to participate in their daily occupations of play, school, community based outings and self-care. This includes emotional regulation, creating calming areas in your home, creating visual schedules to assist with morning routines and learning about your body. My goal is to learn about your child and help them achieve their goals!

Did you know that there is an 8th sensory system? The basic 5 are vision, touch, smell, and hearing. The next 2 are proprioception and vestibular. Many people are unaware that there is an 8th sensory system called interoception. This system works to notice body signals, identify those signals and then respond to them appropriately. For example, many children are unsure of what thirst feels like, or bladder fullness. I am trained in teaching you and your child how to notice and respond to their body’s signals. Learning about your interoceptive sensory system is crucial for understanding your emotions!

Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills are vital for children's development, helping them perform everyday tasks confidently. They involve small hand and finger muscles, crucial for writing, buttoning shirts, and using utensils. Improving these skills enhances hand-eye coordination, concentration, and independence. As children practice, they lay a foundation for future learning and self-sufficiency, leading to success in school and life. Encouraging fine motor development through fun activities boosts their abilities and fosters joy in their growth.

Gross Motor Skills

Having strong gross motor skills is important for children's development and community engagement. Strong gross motor skills boost coordination, balance, postural stability, and confidence, essential for participation in sports, play, and social interactions. As children enhance these abilities, they're more likely to join group activities, fostering belonging and community bonds. Investing in gross motor skills supports physical health and enriches social experiences and personal growth.

Self-Help Skills

Self-help skills are basic abilities that help people take care of their personal needs, like grooming, dressing, feeding, using the bathroom, and personal hygiene. Developing these skills is important for independence, self-esteem, and well-being. Teaching strategies or different techniques in the child’s natural environment enhances the carryover of these skills to everyday situations. These skills also include community outings such as learning to grocery shop or buy an item at a store.
